Pharmacy Department, in partnership with Human Library Malaysia, has organized UMMC Human Library Event 2018 for the very first time in UMMC. The event was held on 22nd September 2018 at Bilik Konferen 3, Menara Selatan. The objective of this event is to increase the staff''s understanding and empathy values towards patients and carers. In Human Library, instead of borrowing a book and reading it, readers borrow a person and listen to the story.

The reader can ask questions and engage in conversation with the ''book''. The ''books'' in UMMC Human Library are mostly UMMC''s patients and carers, whereas the ''readers'' are staff from Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Record, Social Welfare, Engineering, Internal Audit, Business Development and Quality Departments. There were a total of 17 ''books'' available during the event. Among the titles are Person living with HIV, Rintihan Seorang Pesakit Major Depression, My Son and His Brain Tumor and Cancer Changed My Life for The Better.
