Medical Research Ethics Unit

The Medical Research Ethics Unit (MREU) was established to promote and enhance the quality of medical and health research ethics services, as well as implementing ethical standards in research practices at UMMC. MREU provides operational support to the Medical Research Ethics Committee (MREC).

The MREC Secretariat serves as the backbone for processing the continuous cycle of research ethics applications from receiving new applications, to the monitoring of research activities throughout the study period, until study closure. All medical research involving humans must obtain approval from the Universiti Malaya Medical Center-Medical Research Ethics Committee (UMMC-MREC).
